Anywhoodle, what do I think of Captain James Bartholomew Hook, AKA the Vainglorious Vengeful Swordsman?!

Well, despite the fact that his tiny waist and hourglass figure make my knees weak. His prominent, sharply defined chin that juts forward with a hint of arrogance. His face is a portrait of cunning with high cheekbones and a perpetual smirk. Luxurious, jet-black curls cascade down to his shoulders, always impeccably styled. His thick, arched eyebrows convey a constant look of mischievous plotting. And finally, his mustache is a thin, curling work of art, highlighting his sophisticated yet sinister demeanor. Not to mention how proud I am of him for getting over his fear of crocodiles—I think he's DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS! Who doesn't love a man in heels?! 😍😭💖

Now, where was I going with this? Oh, yeah! Who do I ship him with?

Okay, I ship Hook with Jafar, Hades, Gaston, Maleficent, Ursula, Cruella, the Evil Queen, Tinker Bell, and finally Aurora/Briar Rose.

Hook and Aurora are my current OTP based on my mood right now because I love to imagine Aurora wrapping her elegant arm around his delicate, womanly waist and pulling him close as she uses her mighty faerie shield to protect them both from the Fractured. Aurora is a wrecking ball with rose-shaped bangs and a flowy dress that makes his knees weak~

Hook's the only one who consciously remembers to call Aurora by her preferred name, Briar Rose. Mickey and the other guardians slip up constantly, but she's too polite to say anything and appreciates that Hook always remembers. He often engages in chivalrous acts, like offering his hand to help her down a step or draping his crocodile skin coat over her shoulders when it's cold. He likes to play his piano for her and grows daffodils (a headcanon inspired by Shrek 3). And guess whose hair is the same color as daffodils? 👀

Now what do I think of Prince Adam of France, AKA The Beast and the Knight-Errant of the Enchanted Wood? First off, this beastly beauty is looking sharp in his family armor! Puns fully intended! I love that his armor is a family heirloom, with that rose emblem is on his breastplate and cape. You know, I always liked Beast/Adam's human form, but Disney Mirrorverse made me LOVE his human form! Look at him; he's like Edmond Dantès from Manga Classics: The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Jareth the Goblin King, Howl Jenkins Pendragon, and Adrian Țepeș/Alucard all wrapped up into one! Seeing a grief-stricken, half-formed beast is something I never knew I needed in my life! Oh yeah, knighthood and that battle axe look gewd on him.

Okie dokie, I ship this beastie boy with Belle, Gaston, Aurora, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana, Cinderella, Aladdin, Hercules, Kuzco, and my fave, Elsa.

I love him with Hercules because Herc is just so sweet and soft to him. But... Beast and Elsa are my OTP because my friend @frie-ice brought the "Beast of Intentions" Disney Mirrorverse event to my attention and lost my mind. I ship them because they're both social outcasts who were ashamed of who they are and thus shut themselves off from the rest of the world. But I love to imagine that they take comfort in and identify with each other over their shared experiences of isolation and self-discovery. Beast, with his struggle to accept his monstrous form, and Elsa, with her fear of her uncontrollable powers, found solace in one another's understanding and empathy. Together, they learn to embrace their true selves, heal from their past wounds, and discover the beauty in their unique qualities~

Now what do I think of Queen Anna, AKA the Ward of Arendelle?! I love this little ray of sunshine right down to her perfectly coiffed hair bun, elegantly accented by the striking white streak that runs through it. Her armor is nothing short of magnificent! Encrusted with troll crystals, embodying the enchanted protection she wields! The Joan of Arc-esque design symbolizes her bravery and leadership, with intricate detailing that showcases both strength and grace~

She is my favorite melee guardian to use because of her special ability called Elemental Surge. This ability is fantastic because it wrecks everyone within her circle, unlike Hercules and Snow White's abilities, which are limited to one enemy. Anna has carried me through this game and was my strongest melee guardian until I got a duplicate Snow White crystal that unlocked her fifth astral rating/level.

I ship this sunspot with Merida, Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Moana, Jasmine, Elizabeth Swan, Rapunzel, Aladdin, Hades, Aurora, Mulan, Ian Lightfoot, Snow White, Tiana, Kuzco, and finally, Sheriff Woody Pride. Anna just has that personality type that makes her very shippable.

Despite Anna and Buzz Lightyear being in the Hopeful Heroism Disney Mirrorverse Event together, they see each other only as friends. Meanwhile, Woody is a rugged, heavy-hitting cowboy who secretly crushes on Anna... hard! He gets all flustered and stutters around her like he did with Bo Peep from his source world. Anna, ever the warm and welcoming soul, remains oblivious to Woody's feelings, treating him with the same kindness and camaraderie she shows every guardian. Woody's heart races every time she smiles at him, and he's constantly torn between his duty as a sheriff and his burgeoning feelings for her. He’ll throw hands at any and all Fractured to protect her and often lets Anna wear his hat, a gesture of his deep affection and trust. The two share a unique bond, sometimes even finishing each other's sandwiches~

This game has truly provided a canvas for me to think of so many imaginative scenarios and relationships. There’s a lot of fun and potential in exploring these characters’ dynamics because, since their source worlds have changed, maybe that means their romantic and platonic relationships can change too. For instance, we know that Belle and Beast end up together in their source world, but ever since two blazing stars, one light and one dark, collided, their destinies have shifted. This opens up new possibilities for who they could become and who they might connect with. So maybe Belle might find herself attracted to a big, blue, compassionate, and caring guy like Sulley. 😳👉👈

Anywhoodle, sorry for the long info dump/rambling. I genuinely loved answering this! It’s great to hear you’re diving back into it. Disney Mirrorverse has always been such a delightful and quirky game. If you ever want to chat about your favorite moments or characters, I'm all ears!

Dude, it's 2023. How is it possible that at this point in life I still come across people who label Anna as an "urgent"? Dude! How have they not understood the background of this girl?

But it's okay. No problem. My chatty self is here to defend this silly girl.

Before I get into the topic, I want to make something clear. I am a hard fan of any production that has the Disney logo on it. My first sentence was "lion king" and I learned "i'll make a man outta you" before the alphabet. So yes, I love Disney almost as much as I love my little brother. But Frozen... *sigh* I hate Frozen. I find the story so unappealing that I didn't even bother to watch the second installment. So, if you're thinking this is a pro-Frozen rant, you're wrong, because I hate the franchise.

This is a pro-Anna speech that no one asked for

Okay. Now let's get started with my diatribe

We all know what Frozen is all about; repressed princess, magical powers with no logical explanation, true love. Blablabla. That goes without saying. Still, we all know the little sister thing: 

We have Elsa, an empowered queen. Her audience is famously unaware of Brave's existence, because they insist that Elsa is the first Disney woman who is not interested in marriage.

On the other side we have Anna. Young, foolish and naive Anna, who agreed to marry the first guy who crossed her path. More than for her pivotal role in the story, she is known for her "What an idiot, Anna! How urgent are you!" memes.

WARNING. I'm not saying Anna's memes aren't laughable, or wrong. NOT. I simply want to establish a fact that you don't notice, but until after watching Frozen over and over again, for over two months straight because your little cousin recently discovered the movie (I don't thank you, Ari. I really don't)

Since we briefly reviewed the sisters, let's analyze Anna's psychological profile a bit by going over her story:

Anna is the second daughter of the unnamed Kings of Arendelle (if they reveal them in the second movie, idk. I reiterate. I don't like this franchise). Elsa's younger sister. Blablabla. She was living a happy life until one night Elsa gave her an icy blow and from there their parents separated them. First mistake

From one day to the next Anna is rejected by her sister; she left the room and didn't say goodbye. Everyone knows why, even us. But the young, and much dumber, Anna doesn't know. To her, her sister got mad and wanted nothing to do with her. It's not like her parents were any help either. They would have at least made up a story to calm the girl down

The movie, at least the first one, is not very explicit about the sisters' relationship with their parents. Literally, the King only shares two scenes with each xdd. But I presume that, while Anna will have received some attention, after the incident with Elsa's powers, it was diminished. Come on, if I have a daughter who can freeze the entire kingdom because of an anxiety attack, I'm going to give her more attention than the other one too. Not out of preference, but out of concern. It is this same concern that makes the Kings decide to undertake their journey to who-knows-what-place, and also that which causes their death. The sisters are left orphaned, and the whole thing. Elsa sad, guilty and not knowing what to do with herself and her powers. And Anna alone, in an empty castle (I don't know why she also had to live confined to the confinement) with a sister that, not only she doesn't know, but that, in her eyes, hates her and for no apparent reason.

Anna must have been in the prime of her adolescence when that happened. Father figures are a crucial thing at this time because they offer someone who provides support, comfort and reassurance. Anna, however, grew up without that. She had none nothing, really.

"But they had a lot of servants, sure they cared about her" But a servant is not the same as a mom. While, someone must have cared minimally about Anna (which I doubt, because no one seemed to care that the princesses, the only authority figures, LIVED ENCLOSED IN THE CASTLE), they didn't do it well enough to keep Anna from ending up a young girl lacking in care

Having established a little chronology of the past, we can move on to what corresponds to the present in the movie:

The first thing we come across here is For the First Time in Forever, a song, in my opinion a bad one, but which, God, expresses everything this girl has in store. While it's true that the first 20 times you hear it it's a bit insipid compared to other Disney songs, when you pay attention to phrases like "'cause for the first time in forever I won't be alone", "I could be noticed by someone" and "a chance to change my lonely world", everything starts to click in your mind. Here, with this song of barely 2 and a half minutes, Anna expresses how lonely and sad she feels, growing up without parents and with a sister she doesn't even know anymore. She didn't have the affection and attention that a teenager requires...

... that's when Hans appears. Hans, who is not only the first man, but perhaps even the first person with whom Anna really interacts. Hans, who is the first person to really LOOK at Anna and NOTE her. Hans, who gives her in 10 minutes, everything she didn't have in, maybe, 9/12 years, but always longed for. Hans represents Anna's greatest desire. Not a man, not a partner. Simply the attention of someone to fill the void that Elsa and her parents left her

With Hans, she tries to fill all the affective gaps she has had since Elsa moved out of her room without saying why. That's why she agrees to marry the first man who crosses her path: it's her way of making sure she doesn't lose him. In fact, I'm pretty sure Anna would have reacted the same way, regardless of the character's gender as long as he noticed her.

"But then why didn't Kristoff notice her too?" I don't have an answer for that! ;D maybe because Hans already had her attention. Besides, Hans was too flattering to charm Anna, Kristoff, on the other hand... was Kristoff. 

Anyway, knowing this doesn't make you a better person. But at least you already know that Anna, while silly, is not an urgent one. you're welcome!

"Egg, look, I know I can always count on you telling me the truth and that's why I value you so much", he started nervously, as something in his tone made all of the Egg's alarm bells go ringing, "so please, tell me... is my nose crooked?"

So I know you're all aboard the Belle x Sully train, but, hear me out. Belle Maleficent. I've been replaying the game and not only do they have the most clearly defined dynamic, and honestly There's something there. Also, for your consideration, Anna x Beast, I think she'd get him out of the enchanted wood and they'd have a fun time being awkward first crushes. I may be saying this purely because I've been speed levelling them in the hopes I can take on royalty tower before the game dies, and they seem like a good team in a fight.

Ooo hoo hoo! It's you again! You're speaking my language! Okay, yes, I'm riding that Belle x Sulley 24/7, but it's funny you mention Belle x Maleficent.

Belle x Maleficent:

Get ready because I'm about to infodump... I'm absolutely gaga for Belle x Maleficent (Belleficent) for the same reason you mentioned above. They have an addicting dynamic, in my opinion! When I was playing/reading the chapters that had them both interacting, I was losing my mind and gushing about them to my sister. I was like, "They're so fucking gay for each other!" 😭⚢🤯

Anyhoodle, I love the way they go from Belle being suspicious of Maleficent to being heartbroken when Maleficent betrayed the guardians. There are so many other things that happened between them in the final two chapters that made my heart melt. 🥺

I have a YouTube, and a Spotify playlist made for them. I wrote a fic about them for Beauty and the Beast Week (it's a smut, so you've been warned), and I made a moodboard to go along with the fic. So yeah, I'd say I ship them pretty hard.

Beast x Anna:

Consideration considered! Okay, honestly, I was slowly opening my eyes to this ship, but now you've got me taping my eyelids back because I don't want to look away! I've decided that Anna and Beast are in Knight-Club, and the first rule of Knight-Club is to ship the two people who are in Knight-Club.

But in all shippy seriousness, their relationship would totally start with some awkward moments as they get to know each other. Anna's enthusiastic (and sometimes impulsive) nature would lead to endearing and humorous interactions with the more reserved and broody Beast. His broody nature would be balanced by Anna's upbeat and cheerful demeanor, and her infectious energy could help him open up and rediscover joy. 🥺

I can see them accidentally bumping into each other constantly, with him catching her from falling, and Anna getting a feel of his muscles. She'd blurt out something like, "Oh, wow, you're strong!" and they'd stare blinking at each other, and oh, here I go falling in love with another ship again! 😭🥰 I NEED a ship name for them!!

Royalty Towers:

Awww, man, I'm so sorry that you never got to enjoy that Beast/Anna Royalty Towers team-up. I was hoping the Royalty Towers would come back before the game ended, but they didn't. Anna, Snow White, and Belle was my strongest royalty team! 😭

Anyhoodle, Beast and Anna would make such a great team because she's an excellent melee guardian and he's a really good tank in my opinion.
